Another thrilling and exciting review coming up and this time we have Battleship staring Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker and not forgetting Rihanna in this action pack movie about humans in big ships battling alien invaders on the high seas. Needless to say with all the advance technology the aliens have, they still have to try and beat lieutenant Alex Hopper who is hellbent in stopping his worthy enemies.
...I repeat BIG ALIENS!
The movie if you didnt know, is based on the much adored game called "Battleship" where one has to guess the coordinates of all his opponent's battleships and destroy them all. Hasbro obviously had a deep impact into much of our childhood lives. so how exactly do you turn something like that into a 2 hour long movie ( I think it was). The movie was a blast even from the start, with introduction of most of the characters. They may not be the most sophisticated but you do feel homely and warm with most of them. Instantly you start rooting for the humans against the aliens, who seem much stronger (underdog effect perhaps?). The action scenes on the boat are good and have your manly hormones jumping for more. More I tell you!
"But honey, you told me we'd be done by 10?"
I think the fact that we dont know much about naval warfare is what kept most of us still glued to the screen (we bought High Def tickets by the way; RM15) I have to also admit that they did an excellent job in putting in key elements of the game. i wont spoil much for you but when it happens you'll probably go ahhhhh. Of course there is eye candy in the form of Brooklyn Decker. her role is quite limited but we can understand why she is placed there. sure sex sells and in this one, it sweats as well (oh yeah).
Explosions in the Sky...
If you're a girl you probably wont get what this movie is all about, which is why I probably implore the guys to watch it. Ever wanted a movie that isn't going to make you think too hard but at the same time is exciting and thrilling in its own way. This is the movie for you. having said that, Rihanna hardly takes anything off so be warn.
You know what I really want to see? Them making a movie out of a stack of UNO cards..
Ratings - 3.75/5
I like this film because it does what it is supposed to. Battleship is worth the watch and despite some negative reviews online, still gets a thumbs up from me. With this movie just about kicking off the summer blockbusters, this could very well be the start of a beautiful summer.
