I was going to write a pretty detailed description of this movie but i realised that if this is your first time for any Bourne movie, then you're going to be amazingly confused. Just to make it plain simple, Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) is no ordinary soldier. He is somewhat a super soldier, design by a secret government program called Outcome. Everything is going fine and well when suddenly this program is forced to shutdown (mostly due to the intervention of Jason Bourne) and hence everything part of the program must be destroyed. The movie then dives into a tale of cat of mouse between Aaron and Outcome's head (Edward Norton).
Sh*t just got real
I think if you're going to compare this to previous Bourne films (well you probably will) you're not really going to like this film a great deal. At every opportunity when the film is about to get exciting it just stops you in its tracks. Guns blazing? NO! Sublime story telling? NO! After a while you start to wonder about why exactly did you bother watching this film in the first place. It is a Bourne film after-all right? But why do I not feel anything for this character? Each and every scene that included Edward Norton felt like a total waste as all he seemed to do was tell you the obvious (i.e We need to stop him! We need to shut the program down! This Sex is on fire!)
Rumble in Manila
Okay maybe it wasn't all that bad. The scenes in Manila were fast and pacey hence going back to the original styles in the Bourne universe. This film does seem like a bridge to a better film. Kinda like what Spiderman was to Spiderman 2. Most action fans will watch this film but even I couldn't take the long conversations to nowhere. Advice? Catch an early film which will give you the option to either walk out or go for a jog.
Rating - 2.5/5 (Bour-ring)
