Skyfall

Agent Double-Oh-Behave

This latest installment takes Bond through a never ending series of conspiracy, murder, entrapment and all that is delightful about the wonderful world of espionage. A hard disk containing all of MI6 agents is now in the hands of a sinister villain Silva (Javier Bardem) and threatens to expose all of MI6 operations. Bond is asked to serve for Queen and country once again and stop Silva before all is lost. Explosions and deceptions awaits Bond as he prepares for one of his most terrifying journeys deep into his own past, as well as M's.

And now I shall reveal my plans...

WOW I just have to say straight up that Skyfall is the best Bond film in the Daniel Craig series. It really has a much darker feel compared to previous Bond films which is perfect for the story line. We usually know relatively very little of 007 and this movie explains most of his roots. Put in some of M's own dodgy past, and you have an extremely intriguing film for you to watch. Javier Bardem plays the perfect villain opposite Bond, Silva. They share the same linkage with each other, except Silva is slightly mad and seems hell bend in creating total chaos. It is exactly this sort of villain that makes any film a great movie. It is something quite similar to what we saw in The Dark Knight between Batman and The Joker. The Bond franchise does in a way lack a real authentic baddie which is able to give Bond a run for his money. Silva epitomizes all that could be bad about Bond, hence making him the perfect villain. We already know that the director (Sam Mendes) was extremely influenced by The Dark Knight and you could see a lot of its influence in Skyfall.

Dirt bike for dusty places

For those who didn't enjoy the film, I understand that it doesn't quite offer you the WHAM BAM moments that might be associated with many blockbusters (which is ridiculous because the london scene is truly awesome). I also think that most Bond fans would be generally disappointed with the lack of real Bond moments (martini, shooting cars, gadgets, flying to the moon) but I think this is what sets Daniel Craig series apart from the others. It is a reboot, hence making the character more applicable to this day of age. It is a nice touch however in the movie to welcome back some of the key ingredients that has made the Bond franchise so popular over the years.
